App Store review reply templates you can actually use.
Public replies are support in front of every shopper. These templates give you a calm starting point. Personalize the brackets, then save the keepers as reply templates in Helm so your team stays consistent.
How to use these templates
Swap bracketed placeholders for the reviewer’s name, OS version, or your support email. Keep one specific detail from their review so it never feels robotic.
In Helm, save each reply as a template, reply from Mac or iPhone, and translate non-English reviews before you answer. Free includes templates. Pro unlocks unlimited templates plus AI help when a draft needs a stronger pass.
- Acknowledge the specific issue first
- Give one clear next step
- Invite an updated rating only when a fix is real
- Never ask for passwords in a public reply
1-star: crash report
Use when someone hits a crash and left a low rating. Own the bug, name the fix if it shipped, and offer a support path.
Hi [Name], thanks for reporting the crash on [iOS version / device]. We tracked it down and fixed it in version [X.Y], which is rolling out now. Please update when you can. If it still happens after updating, email us at [support@example.com] with the steps you took and we will dig in. We would love a chance to earn a better rating once it is stable for you.
2-star: confusion or hard to use
Use when the product works but the flow is unclear. Teach the path without sounding defensive.
Hi [Name], thanks for spelling out where things felt confusing. The quickest way to [do the thing they wanted] is: open [Screen] → tap [Control] → choose [Option]. If that still does not match what you expected, reply here or email [support@example.com] and we will walk through it with you. Feedback like yours helps us tighten the UI.
3-star: feature request
Use when they like parts of the app but want something missing. Acknowledge the request without promising a date you cannot keep.
Hi [Name], thanks for the thoughtful note. We hear you on [feature]. It is on our radar, and we are weighing it against other requests from customers. We cannot promise a ship date here, but your use case helps us prioritize. If you have a must-have detail we should know (for example [workflow]), reply or email [support@example.com]. Grateful you stuck with us at three stars while we keep shipping.
4-star: almost love
Four-star reviews are high leverage. Name what they liked, address the friction, and leave the door open.
Hi [Name], thank you. We are glad [what they liked] is working for you. On [the friction they mentioned], try [one concrete tip or setting]. We also shipped improvements in [version / upcoming update] aimed at that exact spot. If anything still feels off, email [support@example.com] and we will help. Appreciate you taking the time to write this.
5-star: thank you
Keep five-star replies short and warm. Celebrate what they named. Skip the sales pitch.
Hi [Name], thank you. Notes like yours make the late nights worth it. We are especially glad [specific praise] landed for you. If you ever want [related tip or feature], it is under [Screen]. Enjoy the app, and thanks for being part of this.
Localization or language review
Use when someone flags a bad translation, missing locale, or English-only surprise in their market.
Hi [Name], thank you for catching the [language / locale] issue. We take localization seriously and have logged [the string / screen] for a fix. An updated localization is in [version X.Y / our next update]. If you spot other awkward phrases in [language], email [support@example.com] with screenshots. Native feedback like yours makes the listing and the app better for everyone in your market.
Pricing or subscription complaint
Stay calm. Explain value briefly, point to manage-subscription paths, and offer help. Do not argue price in public.
Hi [Name], thanks for writing about pricing. [Plan name] includes [1–2 concrete benefits]. You can manage or cancel anytime in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. If a charge looks wrong, or you need help restoring a purchase, email [support@example.com] with the Apple ID email you used (not your password) and we will sort it out. We want the value to feel fair for what you get.
“When is X coming?”
Use for roadmap fishing. Be honest, avoid fake dates, and invite the use case.
Hi [Name], thanks for asking about [feature X]. We are actively interested in this and collecting use cases, but we do not publish ship dates in App Store replies so we do not set the wrong expectation. If you share how you would use it day to day, email [support@example.com]. That detail helps us design it well. Appreciate you following along while we keep building.
Save them in Helm
Open the reviews inbox, create a reply template per scenario, and reuse it when the same pattern shows up. Filter by rating or territory so crash reports and localization notes rise first.
For a fuller workflow, see how to reply to App Store reviews and export reviews to CSV when you want a spreadsheet for retros.
FAQ
Can I save these as reply templates in Helm?
Yes. Paste a template into Helm’s review reply templates, personalize per review, and reply from Mac or iPhone. Pro unlocks unlimited templates and AI assistance for tougher drafts.
Should every review get the same reply?
No. Use templates for structure, then add one detail from their review. Identical copy-paste replies ignore the person and read poorly to future shoppers.
What if the review is in another language?
Translate it first so you understand the issue, then reply in their language when you can. Helm can translate reviews; auto-translate and AI summaries are Pro features.
